Outreach - Public Schools

We are always interested in spreading information about the importance of honey bees and promoting their well-being. Pollinators play a critical role in the fertilization of plants, making seeds, fruits, and maintaining healthy agriculture. South Dakota is a leader in domestic honey production and has more than 387,000 colonies managed by beekeepers, most of which are shipped out of state for commercial pollination activities each year.

If your school, recreation program, church, planned activities, groups, meetings, fairs, or other organized events would like more information about how the Wannabees can bring their honeybee good will ambassadorship to your location please get in touch with us!

On March 31st, 2026 Wannabees club founder Jerry Owens and Secretary Dan Mulally were invited by the South Dakota State University 4-H educator's office to present to gathered 4-H members in Rapid City. They covered the history of the Wannabees, what we do as a club, the programs we offer, and what we as 4-H professionals can do with in-school, afterschool or club programming in regard to bees. The Wannabees continue their community outreach efforts for the benefit of the public.
